Our Hauora

In our sixth week of school, in health class, us year 9s built structures with four walls which were dedicated to our well being for this term. Our four different dimensioned walls were Taha Hinengaro which means Mental/Emotional, Taha Tinana which represents physical, Taha Whānau which is social and finally Taha Wairua meaning spiritual.

Each dimension has its importance that's why we've shown its form in a house like structure, if one wall were to crumble everything else would fail to stand strong and resilient.

Taha Tinana which is your physical well being, its to do with things like movement and body growth. It focuses on your health and body development. It could easily fall without the others. The way I use Taha Tinana is by walking and breathing every day.  Taha Hinengaro is your mental and emotional well being, so basically your thoughts and feelings. A way I show my Taha Hinengaro well being is smiling or showing expression every now and then. Taha Whānau is your social dimension, it's to do with your connection with others. I wave to a lot of strangers when ever driving in a vehicle, might be bad but it's a fun little habit of mine that has to do with Taha Whānau. Finally Taha Wairua your spiritual wall, its the wall that is to do with your beliefs, personal identity and your purpose in life. I have faith in god so I go to church, not all the time but most times I do.

Each of these four walls play a big role in life, and like the structure of a house, if one wall crumbles, the others will soon fall as well. So best to keep your walls strong and resilient.
